Which type of tumors are known to metastasize?

Malignant tumors are known for their capability to metastasize, which is the process by which cancer cells spread from the original site to other parts of the body. This characteristic is a defining feature of malignancy. As malignant tumors grow, they can invade surrounding tissues and establish secondary tumors, significantly complicating treatment and prognosis. The ability to metastasize indicates a higher level of aggressiveness and is associated with a greater risk to patient health compared to benign tumors, which do not invade other tissues or spread throughout the body. Non-cancerous tumors and pre-cancerous lesions, by definition, do not have this invasive capability, making malignant tumors the correct choice in relation to metastasis.
